Contemplation
Stained-Glass design proposal for St Niçaise's church in Villers-Le-Tilleul (Ardennes), France
Inspired by origami, the project's aim is to depict secular and religious activities in the church centred around the theme of Contemplation.
The project
By folding, origami enable me it to create light variation. Thereby, this place could have subdued lighting favorable for meditation and mindfulness. Therefore, it signifies the spirit by the open and closed pattern arrangements of the foldings.
Meaning of the theme
In religious sense, contemplation is the mind closing out everything around it to devote itself to spiritual matters. It's to be in pursuit of the elevation of the spirit.
In everyday sense, contemplation is connected with a focussing eye. It appeals for the mind to be disconnected with everything, the reality of life and to leave the mind wander. It's a pathway to meditation.

The composition of the windows of the church is progressive. From the aisle to the chancel, the window's arrangement becomes more and more simple, finishing on a neutral tone, without giving any reason to the mind to wander.
The pattern is geometric only, without evocativ images so that religion's practice is uninterrupted by visual stimuli
